Let’s be perfectly honest here. There are very few insects that scare people more than bed bugs. The idea of little critters climbing all over us in the dark of night makes even grown men cringe. But possibly one of the most challenging things regarding bed bugs is how do you find them? Well, today we are going to show you the best way to find bed bugs.
Bed Bugs Are Small, But Cause Big Problems
Bed Bugs are small parasitic insects that feed solely on the blood of people and animals. They are roughly 1mm to 7mm in length and are reddish-brown in color. They are predominately active only at night. Bed bugs greatly dislike light, so they are often hiding inside mattresses and inside walls and furniture.
A single female bed bug can quickly multiply into a massive infestation. (See why you’re most likely going to bring home female bed bugs.) A female bed bug can lay between 5-7 eggs per week. Each egg will hatch and become an adult in about 3 weeks. If you look at the chart below, you can easily see over a short period of time (a few months) you can quickly have a massive infestation of over 100,000 bed bugs!
